Prayer to End Violence and Hatred

Almighty God, We beseech Your divine help. Today our hearts are plagued with fear, as gun violence and mass shootings ravage our world. We implore you, Jesus, preserve the life of each child and family threatened by this seething violence. Grant us all peace, free from hatred. Nurture within us a respect for every soul You’ve created in this fearful world. Encourage tranquility in our hearts and love to prevail over prejudice; thus transforming swords into plowshares. Amen.

Holy Spirit, in these troubling times where mass shootings and senseless deaths distress our hearts, we turn to You for consolation. No weapon formed shall prosper against Your loving protection; we stand firm in this truth. Merciful God, wrap the victims of such violence in Your eternal safety, soothing their suffering and providing them solace amidst their pain. Isaiah 41:10 reassures us: “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.” We cling to this promise now more than ever. We ask You to restore hope within us, replacing hatred with love and understanding. Let our hearts be places of peace rather than battlegrounds. Unite us all under the banner of Your infinite grace. Eternal Light, we search Your wisdom in these times of escalating violence, fueled by more guns and the evil one manipulating troubled minds. Guide us past the designed scripting words towards understanding mental illness. Confer upon us, O Lord, a Greater Capacity to seek peaceful ways and sever the ties with evil deeds. As You’ve proclaimed: “Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness” (James 3:18). Guide us towards peaceful pathways and resilience. Amen.

In the sturdy heart of our communal aspiration, we ask for Your guidance, Lord. With hope kindled in our hearts, make us strong against violence and hatred. Inspire lawmakers to enact gun laws that safeguard lives while giving courage to police officers and first responders tackling dire situations. May we never be moved to end life, but only to express love. Strengthen us inwardly so our hearts pulsate with peace and inclusivity each day. Amen.
