Ash Wednesday Prayer

Everlasting God, as I begin this Lenten season on Ash Wednesday, I humbly come before You, acknowledging my sins and seeking Your mercy. “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me” (Psalm 51:10). Help me, dear Father, to fully embrace this holy journey towards Easter, growing in faith and drawing closer to You. Strengthen me with Your grace during uncertain times, and guide me through daily scriptures and reflections. May I find hope in the cross and the truth of Your love. In Jesus Christ’s name, I pray. Amen.

Heavenly Father, I come before You with a contrite heart on this Ash Wednesday, acknowledging my sins and seeking Your mercy. As I receive the ashes upon my forehead, I am reminded of the words in Genesis 3:19, “For dust you are, and to dust you shall return.” Lord God, through this Lenten season, I humbly ask You to create in me a clean heart and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Teach me to walk in Your ways and turn away from sin. May the Holy Spirit guide me, and may I find joy in Your salvation. In the name of Jesus Christ, our Savior, I pray. Amen.

Gracious God, I humbly come before you on this Ash Wednesday, seeking the strength to fast and maintain self-discipline during this Lenten season. As I reflect upon my life and my need for redemption, I look to your Word for guidance. In 2 Corinthians 5:17, it is written, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” With the ashes on my forehead, may I remember that I am dust, and to dust, I shall return, but through faith in Christ Jesus, I am offered new life. Guide me in my spiritual journey as I embrace the promise of Easter. In the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen.

Heavenly Father, during this holy week of Lent, I come before You with a broken spirit, seeking growth and renewal. As I begin this Ash Wednesday, I pray that the Holy Spirit intercedes for me, guiding me toward a closer relationship with You, my merciful God. In the words of Isaiah 40:31, “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” May I hear joy and gladness through Your forgiveness and embrace the season of Lent with new and contrite hearts. Teach me to praise You wholeheartedly, and may my life reflect Your steadfast love, now and forever. Amen.

O Holy God, as I receive the mark of ashes on this Ash Wednesday, let it be a reminder of my mortality and a call to humility. In the words of 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” During this Lenten season, teach me to be a transgressor of Your ways so that I may find perfect remission and worthily lament my sins. As I face uncertain times on Earth, grant me the strength to reflect on Your holy Scripture and to seek solace in Your divine presence. In the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ, I pray for peace and deliverance from evil in our lives. Amen.
