Prayer of Remembrance for the Dead

Eternal God, as we gather in mournful remembrance, we humbly ask You to pardon all his sins. May Your divine mercy eternal rest grant unto him, relieving his soul from this world’s weight. “For His anger lasts only a moment, but His favour lasts a lifetime” (Psalm 30:5). Provide solace for us, the mourners Lord God, our ever-lasting refuge.

O merciful God, my brother/sister now rests in Your eternal kingdom. I am but Your humble child, seeking solace and peace. As it is written in Romans 8:38-39, nothing can separate us from Your love. In this prayer of remembrance for the dead, I implore You, dear Lord; hold tightly my deceased brother/sister within Your loving embrace. Engulf him/her in the ever-warming light of your divine affection forevermore. Amen.

In the immeasurable expanse of Your mercy, everlasting God, I seek solace. Shine Your perpetual light upon my loved one’s life that has ceased on this earthly confinement.
