Prayer of Absolution

Holy Spirit, in Your divine mercy and through the authority entrusted to me by Our Savior Jesus Christ and His holy apostles, I pray for this contrite penitent. May God grant absolution from all your sins. In His limitless compassion, may He forgive sins you’ve committed knowingly and unknowingly. Firm in my faith, I stand hopeful that His perpetual light will guide you towards righteousness. Amen.

Loving Father, in Your divine worship and within the time-honored Catholic tradition, we humbly come before You to unburden our souls. Aware of our transgressions, we seek Your divine mercy and spiritual direction. We confess all our sins; every thought, word, and deed that has hindered us from walking with You. In the name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord God who pronounced forgiveness to the repentant thief on the cross (Luke 23:43), grant us the forgiveness of sins. With essential words of contrition etched on our hearts allow us to move from guiltiness, buoyed by your endless love. Amen.

Almighty God, in Your boundless compassion, You listen to the pleas of a penitent. As I humbly present myself before You, confessing the sin committed, blessed Virgin Mary and Your holy disciples stand as my intercessors. Lord Jesus Christ, through You, salvation comes. God grants pardon for sins in the name of holy glory inscribed in our hearts. Guided by Your teachings and with contrite heart, the penitent resolves to better embody Your love. Shower me with Your mercy that I might obtain eternal life and continue striving towards a life free of sin. Amen.

Saintly Apostles, and all the Saints who have gone before us in faith, we beseech you on behalf of those departed. Eternal Father, we know their earthly life was marked by moments of failure; in Your merciful and loving nature, do not hold against them the consequences of evil deeds. As it is written in Psalm 103:12, “as far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.” May they now experience the life giving sufferings with hope and peace. Heavenly Father, pardon their faults that they may receive God’s forgiveness for eternal rest. Amen.

O Loving God, we turn to You, with whom remitting sins according to the Vatican Council’s guidance is mercifully possible. We walk in guilt and remorse, yearning for Your compassionate embrace. Bestow upon us, oh Lord, the grace of absolution as Your very word instills hope among the broken. As we bow our penitent’s head, may the Holy Spirit among us renew strength through Your promises. Guide us steadfastly in fulfilling Your Lord’s command – a beacon for our souls in tumultuous times. Etch within our hearts the essence of divine pardon as You bless us with revival and reconciliation. Amen.

Gathered in the unity of our faith, we firmly intend to seek God’s mercy and forgiveness. As we stand before the radiance of His divine mercy, amidst our earthly frailties, we recall how God forgave David and pray for the same providence upon us. In the hallowed bonds of this public liturgy, a symbol of our communal strength, we look towards reconciliation. By the priestly authority vested in me through Christ’s eternal love, I continue this sacred act as your priest; may God grant pardon and peace to you all. As your humble servant, I pray with you and for you, reminding each heart that grace is ever near; just as warmth follows dawn so too does forgiveness follow contrition. In this blessed assembly under heaven’s dome, may His mercy rain down upon us washing away every stain of sin and guilt. Amen.
