Prayer for Racial Justice

Gracious God, we come before You today with a heavy heart for racial justice, pleading that You give us the courage to dismantle racism. Lord Jesus Christ, empower us to shatter the racial stereotypes and categories that perpetuate injustice. Like Martin Luther King Jr., let us wage peace against racial discrimination. Remind us, Present God, that we are all part of the human family where equal dignity is our divine right. Help us capsize the vessels of division and remember our shared humanity. May Your spirit guide our efforts for justice and equity among all races. Amen.

Holy Spirit, guide us as we strive for racial harmony. In the divine life of Jesus Christ, we see an image free from racism, inviting us to celebrate similarities and heal where racism breaks ties. We acknowledge how unequal access hurts our brothers and sisters who fell victim to racial biases that mar Your divine image. Inspire within us a spirit of introspection leading to committed action for social justice, reminding us that every individual plays a crucial role in rectifying prejudice. Amen.

Divine Creator of multicolored manifestations, touch our own hearts and inspire us to carry forth the work of Pope Francis in dismantling racism. Enable us to recognize that we are all children under one God, part of the same exquisite tapestry of human life. Give us the strength and wisdom to challenge unjust systems, acting not from malice but thirsting for racial healing. Unite us, Lord, reminding us to extend mercy by walking humbly as one family. As we strive for unity and equity, comfort us with Your divine assurance. Amen.

God of Justice, stir in us a passion to eradicate racism, that stain on the soul of society. Empower us, O Lord, to view all through Your lens of love and goodness. As the Good Samaritan looked beyond skin color to see a neighbor in need, enable us to see every person as created in Your image. Offer economic opportunity equally to native peoples who have been marginalized for generations. In our pursuit of truth, help us shatter the walls that divide. “For God shows no partiality.” (Romans 2:11) Amen.

Almighty God, in Your own image, You crafted every hue of human life, yet we oftentimes mar this beautiful tapestry with the sin of racism and provoked pain. Through Christ our Lord, we pray for grace to stand against such injustices and comprehend the unity in our diversity. Inspire us to step outside the confines of our comfort zone to foster peace and kindle unity in this world. As one strong body strengthened by love and justice, let us be a testament of hope. In all our richness and diversity, may we find the promise of peace conferred upon each soul by Your gracious hand. Amen.

Lord of compassion and mercy, we stand before You as humble servants, apologetic and penitent for having let social racism infiltrate our lives, blinding us from the truth that all peoples live under Your divine gaze equally. We plead with You, kindle a spirit of understanding in each person’s heart, enlightening us on the wrong things done because of racial biases. As brothers and sisters in faith, may our faith grow to combat the inequality which takes form in unequal access to providing entitlements. Shine Your gracious light upon oppressed people. Incline our hearts towards empathy for their plight. Inspire us with a lasting spirit to persevere against these unjust prejudices. Remind us of Your word in Galatians 3:28: “There is neither Jew nor Greek… for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” In your vast ocean of divine Mercy, cleanse our hearts and make us instruments of justice and peace among all races. Amen.
