Prayer to the Great Spirit

O Great Spirit, upon the red and purple sunset, we ask for Your guidance. Sharpen our ears to hear the voice of Mother Earth. Allow us to remain calm under the charge of Big Thunder, and seek strength in every leaf and rock. Help us respect the sacred tree, symbolic of earth’s beauty that’s entrusted to us. Give us wisdom to guard our beautiful home; in every sunset may our spirits be renewed. Amen.

Great Spirit, we stand before You with clean hands and straight eyes, acknowledging our transgressions as the beautiful earth grows ugly. We grieve over the fading sunset and the life that fades with it. Under our watch, all the world has been robbed of creation’s beauty; we’ve silenced the earth’s music along the pacific northwest coast where once green things flourished. O Divine Guide, imbue us with penitence and hope for restoration. May we learn to replenish what we have stolen; from ashes, let beauty return anew. Amen.

In the sacred manner of our Native American ancestors, I stand before You, Oh Great Spirit. I beseech You, imbue me with strength and wisdom. My greatest enemy lurks within; my alter ego and desires threatening to eclipse my true essence. I pray for clean hands and straight eyes to see and embrace the lessons you have hidden in every experience as I remember kindness, even when faced with adversity. Let my hands respect all things you have created just as dry lands thirst for rain. Empower me to fight my greatest enemy in a resilient manner, drawing enlightenment from Your unending well of wisdom. Amen.

Teach us, Grandfather Great Spirit, to find compassion hidden in every leaf, as birds sing under Your skies. Let the winds and whose breath You share with us be a reminder of our irreplaceable bond with all my relations. Overwhelm our hearts with empathy that softens harshness and lightens burdens. May the earth teach us kindness; as we learn from it, let it make our hands respect the beauty around us. Help us embody these virtues, walking in the beauty of selflessness and understanding. Empathy overwhelming, love abounding – breathe these unto us, O Great Spirit Whose wisdom transcends time and space. Amen.

As I stand amidst every leaf and rock, I humbly implore You, Great Spirit whose voice I hear in the wind and whose breath gives life. Bless me with the illumination of understanding that all my relations are sacred to the holy hoop of creation. Teach me not to forget, like melted snow forgets its cold essence, rather help me remember the lessons You have taught through nature. As we are bound together in this great mystery, let us respect and honor it—embracing unity and connection. Through Your infinite wisdom, allow us to walk in beauty and live as a holy man would do. In witnessing your grandeur each day, we grow mindful of our intertwined bond with every living thing it engulfs. Amen.

Beneath the fading sunset, my spirit seeks solace, yearning for Your divine tranquility. Amid the chatter of life emerge my feeble voice, craving the resounding echo of Your peace. Help me to silence the turmoil within; let me hear Your voice. In retrospective silence, impart upon me the wisdom to embrace serenity and clarity amidst chaos. Amen.

May we learn, Great Spirit, to hold our hands in reverence to all things, acknowledging their innate worth. Guide our eyes straight towards understanding; may we perceive how intimately all creation is intertwined. Each entity contributes value; every element belongs in the grand scheme of Your harmony. Imbue us with respect, that we might humbly honor each being whose path intersects ours. As our hands engage in this world and interact with its various things, let them not forge distortions, but reflects the true essence of dignity and recognition. Balanced relationships start within ourselves; help us cultivate this balance to extend outward graciously. Amen.

Amidst the whirlwind of create confusion, we seek Your divine intervention, Great Spirit. For it is written in 1 Corinthians 14:33, “For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace.” Restore us with Your great vision; let it guide us towards clarity and harmonious order. By Your merciful guidance, may we journey from turmoil to tranquility. Amen.

Grant us wisdom, Great Spirit, to protect not destroy earth’s music – the harmonies that sing of Your divine creation. Let us be wary of wantonly forsaking these gifts. Psalms 24:1 reminds us, ‘The earth is the Lord’s and all that is in it’. Ahead of our paths lies accountability; may we shoulder this responsibility and cherish the preservation and protection of your world. Amen.
