Prayer of Commendation

Lord God, as we stand beside this mortal body, we find solace in Your promise of resurrection through Christ Jesus. In faith, we beg for the comforting presence of Jesus Christ and all the angels to usher this soul into eternal glory. Our only hope rests in You, our living God, ‘the Resurrection and the Life’ (John 11:25). In the sacred Name of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.

Almighty Lord Jesus, as we gather for this solemn funeral liturgy, our final act of farewell, we beseech Your mercy. With hopeful hearts, we pray for our dearly departed, lifted from this world into eternal peace. May they find rest in Your eternal kingdom. This funeral liturgy precedes their journey into Your divine embrace through Christ Our Lord. In union with the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mother, we pray for their peaceful repose. Amen.

O Lord, in Your great mercy, we entrust the soul of our faithful departed to You. May perpetual light shine upon them in eternal rest. We gaze upon the Mother of God, serene and gentle, from the confines of the cemetery chapel, finding solace in our mutual bereavement. Almighty God, enfold their Christian soul with love and grant it the fullness of your Christian meaning. In this final commendation, may their spirit dwell in Your divine presence forevermore. Amen.

As our beloved fades from this world, Son of the Living, we bid them go forth, Christian soul. Angels, lead them to the Heavenly Jerusalem and God’s welcoming face. May Jesus gently wipe every tear from the eyes of our deceased member. God the Almighty Father, let eternal rest grant their soul peace. May they bask in Your love forevermore, Lord. Amen.

In the face of our open grave, we as a community express our grief and sorrow. Yet amidst our tears, we are hopeful, Father Almighty, invoking the first form of committal rite with holy water. We commend into Your tender care the soul of our loved one who has passed on. May they rest in their final place of peace until You, through Jesus Christ your Son resurrect them. May Mary the Virgin and all saints welcome them as they go forth. Faithful Christian rejoice in His promise of eternal life. Amen.

Bless us, Lord Jesus Christ, in our moments of human weakness and affliction. May Your love shine upon us, gently wiping away our tears and fears. Unfolding into Your comfort and enduring strength, may we find hope in Your divine grace. In the midst of trials, sustain us with Your radiant peace. Amen.

Holy Angel, faithful deliverer and companion, I cast my trust in thee. Guided by Your heavenly wisdom and upheld in the embrace of the Lord Jesus Christ, we venture courageously through life’s path. In the name of the Holy One, we invoke your steadfast protection upon us. Brimful of gratitude for your ceaseless vigilance, we commend ourselves to your loving guidance. May our steps align with Divine Intentions, our hearts echo with Divine Love, and our souls resonate with Divine Peace. Trusting you as our vigilant guardian from dawn until dusk, today and all days henceforth. Amen.

Embracing Your divine promise of resurrection, we come humbly before You. You promised in Corinthians 15:20, “Christ has indeed been raised from the dead”; so we cling to the hope embodied in your paschal mystery. Lead us along this hopeful path, offering comfort where doubt shadows. Encourage our faith to continually find solace in the assurance of eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen.

Gracious Virgin Mother of God, Mary, our hearts are uplifted in reverence and devotion to Thee. Your purity and love shine as a beacon for all who seek solace and comfort. In troubled times, we turn to you, trusting that your tender intercession will guide us towards the divine wisdom of your celestial Son. Mary, Holy Virgin Mother, through your nurturing spirit may we find courage to face our trials with grace. Blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. With fervent faith and boundless gratitude, we entrust ourselves to your loving protection. Amen.

Eternal Companion, we seek Your welcoming company in our solitary moments. May Your comforting and affirming presence bring light to the shadows of loneliness we encounter. Stir in us the strength to perceive Your ever-abiding love as a beacon in our struggles. Enfold us in the uplifting security that only Your divine company can offer, reassuring us that we are never truly alone. Amen.
