Prayer for Reopening of Churches

Our Gracious Father, we stand pleading before You. Amidst the storm encircling this world, we earnestly pray for a safe harbor. Pour out Your Spirit upon our worship service and bless every corner of our sanctuaries as we boldly plan to reopen our doors. Give Your servants, our pastors and leaders, wisdom entwined with creativity to serve our community, to teach your Word and communicate with grace. Father, doubt gnaws at us but may your peace lead us forward through this season. Shield us under Your radiant glory. Bathe our congregation in healing light; bestow upon us health in abundance like a flowing river. In preparation of what lies ahead, Dear Lord, guide us as the Good Shepherd leads his flock. Cast away all fear from within us; let each step resonate with faithfulness towards next steps on this journey You’ve laid out for us. May every performed act of worship sprinkle blessings not only upon the children but also unto each member of the community which make up the body of Christ. Let Proverbs 19:21 echo in our hearts: “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is God’s purpose that prevails.” Help us cling tightly onto that truth standing as firm foundation during these wavering times.We thank You for providing resources enabling our doors to swing open once more – leading mankind back into Your heavenly embrace. In humility and gratitude we plead – anoint this effort for your glory alone. Amen.

Blessed Lord, Jesus Christ, we pray You guide us as we walk back into Your house of worship. Many pastors and families have been forced away from physically connecting with Your body, the Church. As we resume services this week, instill in us a spirit of normalcy and safety. Give us courage when making decisions regarding our lives and ministry; may everyone eagerly join together in Your name once more. Remind each person that You are their guiding light amidst darkness – one thing unchanged by worldly troubles. In praying and trusting You, every step becomes a blessing, even as we step forward uncertainly, towards unknowns. Amen.

In this time of fear and suffering, we turn to You, Jesus, with humble hearts. We seek Your divine protection for our congregations returning bravely after the heavy trials from the covid pandemic. Furnish us, O Lord, with a sense of security and tranquility as we gather in Your holy name once more. Help us to feel secure within the sanctuary of Your compassion and unfailing love. Imbue us with resilience to withstand any health tribulations that may lurk in our midst and shroud us under Your healing wings. Amidst our fears, rekindle hope within us daily until all apprehensions disappear. May your infinite mercy prevail over this ordeal that together as a congregation we will conquer as one body in Christ Jesus. Amen.

God of all wisdom and courage, we call upon You in this moment. Guide our leaders and pastors who bear the burden of making decisions. Bestow upon these stalwarts Your divine wisdom. May their steps be directed by Your unfailing compass, displaying courage and fostering hope among their flocks. In them, let us see Your guidance reassuring us in every decision taken. Amen.
