Prayer for Gossip

Jesus Christ, I humbly ask for the grace to stop gossiping. I understand that peddling idle chatter about others is harmful and will bring me no peace. Please forgive me for joining in on conversations filled with malicious talk or for even entertaining thoughts about using such words. Please help me recognize when this temptation arises and grant me the strength to avoid it entirely. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

God, I pray for all of us guilty of gossiping. Please help us to forgive ourselves and each other when we have wrongfully spoken behind others’ backs. Lift our spirits and give us the strength to resist such an addictive habit as we seek Your goodness in every situation. Let our words be edifying and life-giving instead of words that publicly slay our neighbors. Forgive us, Lord; heal, bless, and help us never to fall into this sin again. Amen!

Heavenly Father, I now pray before You to ask for protection from the slander and gossip spoken against me. Put a guard over my mouth and block out any false words people may say about me. Please give me the courage to graciously leave those conversations that are not beneficial for me or others. Release Your faith, mercy, and love into these situations – help all involved to forgive one another, seek joy rather than power through words, and find healing of our spirits instead of succumbing to this deceitful habit. Amen!

Oh God, I ask for your grace and mercy upon those who gossip about me. Please heal the wounds of their hurtful words, and help them to resist the temptation of gossiping. Lift my name in Your love and turn away any evil intended by their deceitful power. Give them greater affection and patience to speak kind words instead. Let us all remember our time is better spent serving You than engaging in this sinful activity. Amen.
