Prayer for Body Dysmorphic Disorder

Beloved Creator, mirror of our true selves, we reach out to You. “I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14) yet struggle to see ourselves as You see us—perfect in our imperfection, unique in every atom. Help us shed the cloak of self-doubt, which reflects a distorted image woven by Body Dysmorphic Disorder. Stir within us the faith to embrace each line, each curve with acceptance and humility. Lord, heal our sight; let us behold love when we gaze inward and outward alike. May Your word be the beacon that guides us towards self-acceptance and hope. Amen.

Great Healer, in my reflection, all I find is distortion and pain rooted in this disorder. With an anguished heart, I seek Your divine intervention. Breathe tranquility into my mind, restructure my distorted image with the true beauty of Your creation. As a potter moulds clay; remould me, O God. In faith’s embrace, let healing rivers run through my soul, cleansing the turmoil within. Support me in this journey from distortion to acceptance, from despair to hopefulness. Oh Lord in Your mercy – heal me completely – body and soul…Amen.

Compassionate Father, in You we seek the wisdom only Your love provides. As Paul urged in Philippians 4:7, we implore Your peace that surpasses all understanding to guard our hearts and minds. God, envelope families grappling with BDD with compassion; illuminate their paths, transform their perspective. Instill patience within them aiding their loved ones’ journey towards self-love and acceptance. Remind us of Your unique creation each individual represents, steering us away from worldly standards of beauty. May the essence of divine image prevail in every heart’s mirror reflecting Your love wholly embraced. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Almighty Protector, In the throes of BDD, my soul sways unsteadily under persistent self-censure and the cruel facade of inferiority. You who sculpted me with Divine craft and love, sanctify my mirror reflections with your celestial grace displaying the masterpiece You birthed. Endow me with Your resolute strength to repel these distorting imaginations and enkindle in me an unwavering resilience to rise above them.Your assurance is my armor against mocking mirrors and pitiless pictures. I seek refuge in Your infinitude, God. Amen.
