Prayer Against Pride

O Most Merciful Lord, help me be humble so that I may not have an attitude of pride. Give me the grace and strength to conquer the temptation of arrogance in my heart and mind. Like King David said in Psalm 131:1, “I have stilled and silenced my soul; like a weaned child with its mother, like a weaned child is my soul within me.” Lord Jesus, grant me humility from within to live without boasting or aggrandizing myself. Amen. As it says in Proverbs 11:2 – “When pride comes, then comes disgrace; greatness God opposes.” Help me recognize the things that breed vain thoughts and desires of self-praise so that Your Presence will dwell deep within my core being. In Christ’s Name, I pray. Amen.

O Almighty God, help me to overcome my pride. Cast out the devil that seeks to exalt me above others and instead let me stand humbly before You. Let Your Word be a light unto my life, guiding me on the pathways of righteousness and mercy. I desire Wisdom from Thee above all else so that I may realize the folly of envy and forgive others with compassion as Your mighty power lifts me in glory to find joy in Heaven. In Jesus’ Name, amen.

Mighty God, in humility, I pray for this arrogant person. Your word tells us: “Pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall” Proverbs 16:18. May those that have been hurt by this person’s arrogance be healed by your grace and mercy. Help them to forgive and move forward with their lives. Give humility to the arrogant ones so they may learn from their mistakes and cast off prideful behavior as they grow closer to You, Lord. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
