Prayer for Lent

Lent is a time of prayer, penance, and intimacy with God, always imploring the help of the Prince of the Celestial Armies, the Archangel Michael.

πŸŽ‰ Commemoration: -

Lent is a liturgical time in which for 40 days the Church calls the Christian faithful to penance, generosity, repentance, forgiveness, praise, greatness and conversion, to truly prepare themselves to live the mysteries of the Passion, Death, and Resurrection of Christ in body and spirit during Holy Week.

Surely you will receive the graces you ask for during this period with the Lenten prayer.

Saint Francis of Assisi created the lent of Saint Michael in 1224. It is a period of 40 days with fasting and prayers, inspired by the Archangel Michael. St. Francis of Assisi believed that the Archangel Michael had the function of saving souls at the last moment, and he also removed souls from purgatory.

St. Francis of Assisi celebrated Lent with retreat, fasting, and prayers during the forty days following the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

St. Michael, who had the role of introducing souls to Paradise, had the goal of a special devotion because of the saint’s desire to save all men from pain, darkness, and selfishness.

How to say the Lenten Prayer

Provide an altar at home for St. Michael with a picture or photo to be mounted throughout Lent. Place flowers in a white pot, preferably.

Every day:

  • Light a candle
  • Make the sign of the cross
  • Offer a flesh-junk or other penance (choose your punishment so that during this period you can also do meditation)
  • Praying the prayer during the 40 days of Lent
  • Praying the Litany of St Michael
  • Praying the final prayer

Lenten Prayer of St Michael the Archangel

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us today in battle, be our refuge from the evil and snares of the devil.

Command God, we instantaneously ask Him, and you, prince of the heavenly militia, by divine virtue, precipitate Satan and other evil spirits into hell, who walk through the world to lose souls. Amen.

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus! (three times)

Prayer for the end of Lent

Lord Jesus! On this day sanctify us, by an ever new blessing, and grant us, through the intercession of St. Michael, the wisdom that teaches us to gather riches in Heaven and to exchange the goods of the present time for eternal rights. You who live and reign in spirit forever and ever.

That with your mercy and mastery of all resources, in this period when I pray Lent and believe in your spirit and ability, I come today to make my request (to say the questions you desire)

Amen!
